Travel Diary: Las Vegas, Nevada

Travel Diary: Las Vegas, Nevada

Two travel diaries, one right after the other I wish I can continue to do more and more all the time. I have the travel bug in me. I kid you not, I have been looking at flights, hotels and airbnbs ever since I came back from the Riviera Maya. I haven't booked anything yet because I am so undecisive of where to go next, but I know I will soon.

Anyways, two weekends ago my boyfriend and I went to Las Vegas for the weekend. Our excuse was Valentine's Day Celebration. It was just the perfect occasion because we had been wanting to go for a couple of months now but we just kept postponing it for one reason or another. Until, we came back from Mexico and we just booked the hotel. No thinking involved, we just did it!

We arrived on Friday afternoon, and decided to walk around a bit before checking in. We stayed at the New York, New York Hotel. I think this has been the hotel we've stayed at on our last few visits. My boyfriend likes this one a lot but who doesn't love NYC. I think next time we come we will try to stay at the Cosmopolitan or maybe Paris, we'll see.

We go to Las Vegas about once or twice a year. You may be thinking we are huge gamblers, but no we are not! Actually not at all! We mainly go to Las Vegas because it seems like we get a little of all over the world by just walking from one hotel to another. We also come because we really like to enjoy good food and the buffet, we hardly ever gamble. I feel like there are so many hotels and things/ shows to see that for me its a waist to sit in front of slots machines. But thats just our thinking because my family thinks I am pretty weird for going to Vegas and not gambling.

Back to our trip. After the four hour drive from LA to Las Vegas and walking a bit I was starving so before checking in we ate at an Italian restaurant inside New York New York. Il Forno. I was so hungry that I did not take pictures but to be completely honest I loved the food so much more the first time I ate there, a couple of years ago. It was not bad but neither my boyfriend or I were as impressed as the first time.

Once we checked into our room we immediately got ready to jump into the action. We went downstairs to purchase tickets for Zumanity and had a couple of drinks before the show.

If you go to Las Vegas, and want to purchase tickets for the shows I recommend to get the M life card. Its a loyalty rewards program card that gives you discounts and accumulates points when you use it.  Not all hotels use this but it doesn't cost anything and it saves you money. I know we save a little on our tickets for this show. I felt like people/ employees don't tell you much about it, so if you want to learn more about it here is a link so you can learn more about it.

Zumanity was a pretty cool show. It is for adults, definitely fun. It is a show that features acrobats, dancers and singers all with sexual context in their story line. If you want to interact with the entertainers do not sit in the balcony. For example the seats that you see from the picture above with the piano does people definitely interact with the performers. We are a little shy, so we decided to enjoy the show from the balcony. After the show we had some wine and called it a night.

On Saturday morning we got ready and headed out to walk. We walked on the strip for a bit, the day was absolutely gorgeous to walk outdoors. We grabbed a quick coffee and continued walking through the Crystal Shops. A little window shopping and then continued our walk.

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan was the next hotel to walk in to.  Which meant, it was time for brunch at Wicked Spoon! Food makes me happy! We read mostly good reviews for this buffet, so we were both excited to go but we were not excited about the line once we got there. Be ready for that line when you try this place, it is no joke if you are hungry.

Once we got past both lines, we finally got a table. Yay! Time to eat! The dishes above were some of our favorites there. They also had some amazing pancakes and incredible salads; as well as meats, pizza, asian food and a whole section for dessert- my favorite. When I get too excite I often forget to take pictures, otherwise I would be sharing more with you. If I must confess the pictures above were taken to try to replicate these dishes since they were our favorites. We'll see how that turns out, I'll keep you posted on Insta stories.

After Wicked Spoon, I had to walk. I ate so much, I was stuffed almost regretting it a bit, but not really because I enjoyed every last bit of dessert I ate. Walking after was a must, and the nap I took once we got to the hotel helped a ton.

After our nap we were ready for a night out in Vegas! We started our night at The Chandelier a bar inside the Cosmopolitan. Yeah, we are back at the Cosmopolitan. Every time we came to Las Vegas we wanted to visit this bar but for one reason or another we never made it, until this time. So pretty, I love all of the crystals hanging.

We enjoyed a couple of their signature cocktails and headed out to a club off of the strip to enjoy a night of lots of dancing. The club we went to played just what we were looking for... spanish music. Thats what we both love to dance.

The place we went to is called La Jolla, it is open until 6 am! We called to get on the guest list the same day and we had no problems getting in. They play all kinds of Spanish music: Salsa, a little of Bachata, Merengue, Reggeton, Rock en Espanol (Spanish Rock) and Banda. This place is definitely worth going off of the strip if you are looking to dance to Spanish Music.

On our last day we woke up pretty late, and headed straight to look for food. We didn't go very far, again walked inside or hotel and found these on the pictures below. The best one was the stuffed pizza on the left, the other one was just okay. I don't remember the name of the place but its upstairs close to Coyote Ugly. I don't like to give bad reviews, but this place is a bit overpriced in my opinion and the service lets just day it needs a little bit of help. Just a heads up, if you decide to try the pizza.

Our last day was the day to explore and walk! we walked a total of 8.5 miles through out the day. Walking a lot on the strip and going inside some of the hotels like the Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, the Venetian and the Palazzo.

Bellagio Las Vegas

Our first stop was the Bellagio, we enjoyed the fountain water show first. Here is the schedule if you want to check it out, its pretty cool to watch the choreographed dancing fountains.

Then we walked into Bellagio's beautiful Botanical Garden, which was celebrating the Chinese New Year- the Year of the dog. If you come to Las Vegas, you must stop here the Garden is always absolutely beautiful.

Next stop was the Caesar's Palace, one of our favorites! There are lots of shops, restaurants and it is absolutely beautiful inside. This place should also be on the top of the list when visiting Las Vegas.

It was that time again! Time to eat! Even though we love the buffet at the Caesar's Palace, we knew we didn't want to go to a buffet this time, so we looked around while we walked and came across Border Grill a Modern Mexican Food restaurant. That was the one! My boyfriend ordered tacos and I ordered ceviche, they were the perfect portion. The ceviche was very different but really good. Since it had celery the flavor was strong but the shoestring yam was a perfect balance in every bite. The fish was raw by the way, delicious non the less.

Our last stop of the day and sadly of our trip was the Palazzo. Almost every hotel was celebrating Chinese New Year in their own way, it was so lovely to see so many beautiful flowers and dogs every where.

We should celebrate love this month and every month of the year, I hope you had an amazing Valentine's Day Celebration and I hope you liked that I shared ours with you. With lots of love till next time.

XOXO,
